Sonic Fire Tech raises $15M as it pivots from wildfire defense to kitchen fire suppression

Cleveland-based startup Sonic Fire Tech has completed its seed funding at $15 million, marking one of the largest early-venture capital rounds in state history, according to the O.H.I.O. Fund, which led the financing.

The O.H.I.O. Fund, a private fund investment adviser with an office in Cleveland, contributed $11.5 million, adding to the $3.5 million Sonic Fire Tech raised in October 2025.

Sonic Fire Tech plans to use its new capital to hire employees, scale up manufacturing to meet growing demand for its suppression technology and pivot its initial marketing push to preventing home kitchen fires, Geoff Bruder, the startup's co-founder and CEO, told the Cleveland Business Journal.
